Top 5 Hikes Near Camp Everyday Winona

← All Posts·James Huffman·February 10, 2026

One of the best things about camping at Camp Everyday Winona is the incredible hiking right outside our gates. The bluffs along the Mississippi River Valley offer dramatic views, diverse wildlife, and trails for every skill level.

1. Great River Bluffs State Park

About 15 minutes from camp, this park features panoramic overlooks of the Mississippi River. The King's Bluff and Queen's Bluff trails are both stunning — clear days offer views into Wisconsin across the river.

2. Garvin Heights City Park

Perched 575 feet above Winona, this park offers one of the best views in the region. A short but steep hike rewards you with sweeping river valley panoramas. Especially magical at sunset.

3. John Latsch State Park

Three bluff peaks — Faith, Hope, and Charity — rise steeply from the river bottom. The trail to the top of Charity Bluff is challenging but absolutely worth it for the views.

4. Pickwick Mill Trail

A gentle walk through history along Pickwick Creek, past one of Minnesota's oldest stone grist mills. Perfect for families with young children or anyone looking for a leisurely nature walk.

5. Winona State Recreation Area

Closer to town, this area offers accessible trails along Lake Winona with great bird watching and peaceful waterfront scenery. A nice early morning or evening stroll.

All of these trailheads are within 30 minutes of camp. Ask us at check-in for current trail conditions and our personal recommendations!
